Rooted in Family, Reimagined for Something Sweet

A local story with deep roots

Frozen Falls Ice Cream begins as a new chapter in a story that has long been connected to Newton Upper Falls. Before becoming Frozen Falls, the space was known as Little Luke's Cafe, a concept inspired by owner Philip Emmanuel's family history, local roots, and the meaningful memories that shaped his life.

From Little Luke's to Frozen Falls

Philip grew up in Newton Highlands as one of eight children. After his father passed away, his older brother Luke stepped into a guiding role in the family. As Philip followed his brother around, Luke's friends affectionately nicknamed him "Little Luke," a name that later became part of the cafe's identity.

Inspired by gathering and tradition

Philip's mother, Renula, was raised in the village of Gennadi on the island of Rhodes, Greece. Through her cooking, Philip learned the importance of bringing people together around food, conversation, and simple moments of hospitality. That same warmth continues to guide the experience at Frozen Falls Ice Cream.

Honoring the Falls

The name Frozen Falls also reflects a meaningful local connection. Philip's father owned and operated businesses near the Upper Falls and Mills Falls area, around the corner of Chestnut and Elliot Streets, where many Newton residents worked and where innovative products were developed. Today, Frozen Falls carries that connection forward with a fresh identity built for the Upper Falls.

A sweet place to gather

Frozen Falls is a welcoming destination for families, neighbors, and friends to enjoy frozen treats and make new memories. With a name that honors the area and a spirit rooted in family, Frozen Falls is ready to serve Newton Upper Falls with something sweet, nostalgic, and new.
